A lake this size deserves restaurants you can actually arrive at by boat, and Lake Wallenpaupack delivers more of those than most Pocono lakes its size. Here are the spots where the water is the whole point — decks, docks, and sunset views included.
The Dock on Wallenpaupack
Part of Silver Birches Resort in Hawley, The Dock is built for arriving by water — tie up and walk in, or drive over Route 507. One seasonal caveat: the resort lists TJ's Lakeside Bar & Grill as open May through September, so from October on the indoor dining room and its lake windows are the plan, not the poolside bar.
The Boathouse Restaurant
A casual, vintage lakeshore eatery on Route 507 that's been called out as one of Pennsylvania's best dining decks. It leans into the boat-up crowd as much as the drive-up crowd — exactly the kind of unpretentious lake spot that keeps regulars coming back all summer.
Gresham's Chop House
On Route 6 directly on the lake, Gresham's has been a steakhouse-and-seafood fixture since the Regenski brothers rebuilt and reintroduced it in 1999, continuing a family restaurant tradition that goes back to mid-century. It's dinner-only and closed Mondays, so plan around it — but the lake view from the dining room is worth the wait on a busy Saturday.
Capri Restaurant & Lounge
Family-owned since 1986 in Lakeville, Capri advertises a genuine "10-mile scenic view" over the lake — the longest sightline of any restaurant in this list. The Italian menu traces its recipes to "Aunt Helen of Gubbio, Italy," and the kitchen keeps in-season hours, so call ahead outside peak summer months.
Hours worth checking before you drive
Waterfront hours here move with the season, and two of the four run reduced schedules once the summer crowd leaves. As of early September 2026, this is what each restaurant posts on its own website or listing — always call to confirm, because shoulder-season hours change week to week.
Gresham's Chop House posts closed Mondays, 4:00–8:30pm Tuesday and Wednesday, 4:00–9:30pm Thursday and Friday, and 4:00–8:30pm Saturday and Sunday, and it takes reservations only for parties of eight or more (greshamschophouse.com). The Dock on Wallenpaupack lists "cozy season" hours of 11:30am–8:00pm Sunday, Monday and Thursday and 11:30am–9:00pm Friday and Saturday, versus 11:30am–9:00pm Sunday–Thursday and 11:30am–10:00pm Friday–Saturday in peak season (silverbirchesresortpa.com). Capri says its in-season hours are 4:00–11:00pm Monday through Friday and noon–midnight on weekends, that it runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday only in the off season, and that winter hours are Friday and Saturday from 5:00pm (caprirestaurant447.com). The Boathouse is the most forgiving of a spontaneous drive, but reservation requests go through its own site rather than a phone queue.

Boat-up dining has a hard seasonal edge on this lake. Brookfield Renewable draws the lake down after Labor Day for regulated dam testing and maintenance: the published 2026 tentative schedule steps the surface from roughly 1,180.5 feet the week of September 8 down to about 1,174 feet by the week of October 4, and Brookfield warns that submerged hazards may be present during the drawdown (safewaters.com). First-of-month lake level targets run 1,181 feet in September and 1,179 feet in October, against a 1,180–1,187 foot summer recreation range.
In practice that means shallow approaches, docks and coves that were fine in July can be marginal in October, and all floating docks and mooring buoys have to come out of the lake before December 1. If the plan is to tie up rather than park, call the restaurant the same week and ask what the water is doing at their dock.
Plan around the season
