The Lake Wallenpaupack Brewery Trail: 4 Taprooms Within 15 Minutes of the Water

August 10, 2026

Lake Wallenpaupack's corner of the Poconos has quietly built a real brewery cluster, four taprooms deep, all part of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau's Beverage Trail.

Wallenpaupack Brewing Co — Hawley

Founded in 2017 by Becky and Chris Ryman, this 14,000-square-foot brewpub and beer garden sits adjacent to the lake on Welwood Avenue. Flagship beers include Hawley's Comet and Hawley Wheat. A second taproom, The Wake Zone, operates in Tafton with golf simulators alongside the beer list.

Jam Room Brewing Co — Greentown

Brewing since October 2016, Jam Room pairs its beer list with a kitchen (Soundbites) and regular live music. It's the most food-forward of the four, closer to a full restaurant than a taproom-only operation.

Hopping Eagle Brewing Co. — Hawley

A Route 6 taproom that relocated from its original space inside the Hawley Silk Mill to its own standalone location — a straightforward, no-frills stop for a flight on the way through town.

Log Tavern Brewing Co. — Tafton Taproom

The newest of the four, opened March 2024 in a custom wooden taproom on 9.5 acres in Tafton. It's the most spread-out property of the group — worth the short drive if you want outdoor space with your beer.

Doing the trail in one day

All four sit within about 15 minutes of each other by car, so a one-day loop is realistic if you have a designated driver: start at Wallenpaupack Brewing on the lake, cut to Hopping Eagle in town, then head south to Log Tavern and Jam Room in Tafton and Greentown.
